Getting ready to start icing the bride and groom cakes for our friend's wedding.
The whole process generally takes 2-3 days. We normally have four or five of us girls on it.
The finished product! (Minus the flowers that were put on later)
The top layer of the bride's cake has their initials on it.
Melissa did all that fancy scroll-work on the white cake, and Rachel and I did the scroll-work on the chocolate.
Melissa and I decided to make cupcakes for our friend's birthday. I love the vintage/shabby chic/pastel look, so we kind of went that direction.
We've been making our own fondant for a while now, because the store bought stuff is nasty! Our recipe is so easy and delicious!
As you can see, they turned out beautifully.
We made fondant roses ahead of time, and made buttercream for the trim.
Edible pearl candies were a great effect!
Lastly, the lace look. (My own invention) We found some lace in our sewing room, and made sure it was clean. We thinned the buttercream until it dripped off of the spoon, spread the lace over the fondant, and spread the buttercream over the lace. Wait a couple of seconds, and then peel off the lace. Voila!
Our friend loved them!
