Cakes

I was blessed to be born into a family that honors and encourages creativity. One of our outlets is cake decorating! We do professional wedding cakes, (not as a business, just as a hobby.) and we also enjoy doing birthday cakes or shower cakes for friends and family!

Getting ready to start icing the bride and groom cakes for our friend's wedding.
The whole process generally takes 2-3 days. We normally have four or five of us girls on it.

The finished product! (Minus the flowers that were put on later)
The top layer of the bride's cake has their initials on it.
Melissa did all that fancy scroll-work on the white cake, and Rachel and I did the scroll-work on the chocolate.

Melissa and I decided to make cupcakes for our friend's birthday. I love the vintage/shabby chic/pastel look, so we kind of went that direction.

We've been making our own fondant for a while now, because the store bought stuff is nasty! Our recipe is so easy and delicious!

As you can see, they turned out beautifully.
We made fondant roses ahead of time, and made buttercream for the trim.
Edible pearl candies were a great effect!
Lastly, the lace look. (My own invention) We found some lace in our sewing room, and made sure it was clean. We thinned the buttercream until it dripped off of the spoon, spread the lace over the fondant, and spread the buttercream over the lace. Wait a couple of seconds, and then peel off the lace. Voila!

Our friend loved them!

Christmas Painting

I've decided to dedicate this blog to my art. (If that's what you want to call it.) I paint some, I draw some, I even do some photography. I also make cakes with my sisters on occasion. You will be seeing all of those, and more in the future.

Here's the painting I worked on during the Christmas Season

 And a closer shot...

I'm still new in the world of watercolor, so I wasn't sure if the colors would come out dark enough. It took some time, and lots of layers of paint, but it turned out bold enough in the end.

I know that I'm not exactly what you would call an artist, but I enjoy what I do, and that's what counts!

My newest hobby. Watercolor is so much fun. Seriously, try it. I'm totally hooked. I'm hoping that I can stick to it long enough to actually make something good.

These are my first two attempts. (I think I will stick to "unalive" things for a while. My people never look exactly like people...)

Hi! I'm Hannah. I'm really new to this blogging thing, but I thought, "well, hey, why not try it out?" I probably won't be consistent, but hopefully someone will be blessed by this blog.

Blessings!
